About the cabin
Because Liabu is only 15 m2, the cabin is best suited for 2-3 people. The cabin lies by the road. You can rent a boat and fishing nets at Liavatnet (contact us for more information), and there are several fishing lakes and rivers in the area. There are also nice possibilities for grouse hunting. If you want to climb mountains, you will for example find the characteristic peak Tverrådalskyrkja not far from the cabin. If you want to go skiing there are possibilities and terrain that will satisfy beginners as well as experienced skiers. It is only 9 kilometers from the cabin to Mysubytta. For those interested in plant life or biology, or plainly in the beauty and variety of nature, the flora in Røykjeskålslia is especially rich.

A number of our cabins in the mountains are open to reindeer hunters in the period between August 20th and September 10th. We have also reserved some of the cabins for small game and grouse hunters. Offers on game license and cabins will be posted on our home page.

About Skjåk Almenning
Skjåk Almenning covers a total of 2 million decare and is the largest private property in the country. Skjåk Almenning amounts to 95 per cent of the total area in Skjåk municipality. Out of these, 6 per cent is wood and forest, while lakes, rivers and glaciers make up 11 per cent. The rest is mountains and plains. The highest summit is Nordre Hestbrepiggen, 2172 meters above sea level.
Geographically the area belongs to the eastern part of southern Norway, but great territories wedges into the mountains of the western part of the country, both in Sogn og Fjordane county and Møre og Romsdal county. This is evident in both landscape and climate. From the soft moors in the north-east the mountains grow ever more wild and the valleys deeper towards the south and the west. Skjåk is the most arid municipality in all of Norway, with dry, warm summers and stable, snowy winters. Everywhere is grand and beautiful nature, and the span of nature types is an important criteria for the area being worthy of preservation. Skjåk is the largest “national park municipality” in Norway, with large parts of Breheimen and Reinheimen national parks within the municipality’s borders.
Skjåk Almenning has 14 cabins located in the mountains. Two of these are accessible by car. The cabins are in themselves great hiking goals, but also splendid starting points for hiking and fishing. You can make your own hiking route from cabin to cabin in Breheimen or Reinheimen national parks. If you want to climb mountains Skjåk have 18 mountains over 2000 meters above sea level, where Tverrådalskyrkja is the most well-known. Skjåk Almenning also has four cabins located by roads, which are suitable for those who want an easier starting point.
